The power of networking

Amnesty International does not work alone. Defending human rights requires alliances, collaborations and synergies with those who share our values. In Lazio, we build networks with civil society organisations, institutions, schools, universities and local communities to multiply the impact of our actions.

Principle of independence

A cornerstone: Amnesty International is independent from any government, political party, economic interest or religion. Our collaborations are based on shared human rights values, never on political or economic affiliations. This independence is the foundation of our credibility.

Who we collaborate with

Our collaborations in Lazio operate at several levels:

• Civil society — associations, NGOs, rights movements sharing our objectives on specific themes: migration, death penalty, freedom of expression, climate justice
• Schools and universities — educational pathways, internships, seminars and research projects with schools and universities in Lazio
• Local authorities — collaborations with municipalities, districts and the Lazio Region for awareness and rights defence initiatives
• Cultural sector — theatre, cinema, music and art as tools to tell the story of human rights. We collaborate with festivals, events and cultural spaces
• Other Amnesty structures — coordination with regional chapters, thematic Working Groups and national Coordinations

The territorial network in Lazio

With 16 active structures in 5 provinces (Rome, Viterbo, Rieti, Latina, Frosinone), the Lazio Chapter is one of the most widespread in Italy. Our groups collaborate with each other and with local organisations to organise events, campaigns and coordinated actions across the territory.

The thematic Coordinations — such as Migrants and Refugees, Death Penalty, LGBTQIA+, Gender Justice and many others — connect activists from different groups on specific themes, building cross-cutting expertise. Discover the Coordinations →

National and international networks

We participate in the national networks of Amnesty International Italy and in global campaigns of the international movement. This allows us to bring global issues to Lazio and to make the territory's voice heard at national and international level.
